MASTER YAO WU HU

I was born in Shashi, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, China in 1960. Raised in a martial arts family, I initially learned martial arts passed down from my grandfather at an early age. When I was eight years old, my father introduced me to his friend, a well-known Master, Han De Chang, where I learned Shaolin boxing, Hongmen boxing, Ditong boxing, Drunken boxing, and Sanda. In the 1970's, I also learned Liang style Bagua Zhang from a local boxer, Master Chen Wen-qing in Hubei Province for many years. In addition, two other famous Liang style Bagua Masters, Zhang Zhao-long and Wang Qi-chang also passed down various Bagua secrets, such as Bagua brick walking, straight 64 palms, and seven-star staff.

In 1979, I became an inner student of a famous Chen style Bagua master, Liu Jing Ru, learning Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, Liu-He Preying Mantis boxing for decades.

In 1983, Sifu Liu Jingru introduced me to his martial art brother, Master Fu Chi-hu, learning Xingyi Quan and various weapons. After learning arts from Master Fu for 16 years, I finally became his inner student in 1999. Masters Liu and Fu are disciples of a famous martial artist "dragon and tiger boxer," Luo Xing Wu.

In 1990, it was my honor to be the indoor student of a famous Xingyi Quan master Geng De Fu, and continued to study Fu-style Xingyi Quan and comprehensive Taiji Quan, Sifu Geng De Fu is the son of reputed hero Geng Xia Guang. Sifu Geng De Fu’s grandfather, Geng Ji Shin, is the descendant of Xingyi Grand Master Liu Qilan.

Before I came to the States, I served as the vice president of Bagua Zhang Association in Jigzhou, Hubei, and the chairman of Shashi Wushu Association. In 1990’s, I established Three Gorges Wushu school with Mr. Chen Delong. And, I founded a sport academy in Wuhan City, Hubei Province together with a well know martial artist, Chen Xiangling. I had served at many martial arts academies as head coach and Sanda coach. I have won a number of martial arts and Sanda awards in China and several countries. And, I was invited to perform and teach Chinese martial arts at many countries.

Before I visited the United States in 1999, I was granted the Six Den from the official Chinese Wushu Association. And, my name was incorporated in the officially published "Chinese Martial Art Hall of Fame.” I also involved in editing several Bagua Zhang and Xingyi Quan books and videos written and published by Sifu Liu Jingru. I am now serving as a member of Chinese Wushu Association, the Vice President of Beijing XingWu KongFu Association, and the Chairman of the American Xingyiquan Baguazhang Institute.
